About HoLEP
HoLEP stands for "Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate" and is a closed surgical method in which enlarged prostate internal tissue (adenoma) is separated from its capsule with the help of a laser and completely removed. This method clears the tissue blocking the urinary flow, allowing the patient to urinate comfortably.
No, because all of the prostate tissue except for the capsule is removed in HoLEP surgery, the risk of the disease recurring is almost non-existent. It differs from other closed surgical methods with this feature.
There is no age limit for HoLEP treatment. It can be safely applied especially in patients in the advanced age group who do not benefit from drug treatment or are at risk of impaired kidney function.
